2nd Annual Pumpkins in the Park!
A fundraiser for the Horrace White Park that was a huge hit last year. Many of you were involved in last years event so you’re already familiar. For the rest of us, to the best I can comprehend… a bunch of folks got together for mass, creative pumpkin carving the product of which then gets put on display for sale or auction [ I'm not sure which
] and the proceeds then go to help fund improvements at the Horrace White Park. The pumpkins will be carved in the a.m. and sold later that same day.
Listening to the recap from last year it sounds to me more like a ruse and thinly veiled attempt by some folks trying to legitimize a party. Join us!
When: Saturday Oct 25th. 8:00 a.m.
Where: TBD. I’ll update here as soon as I get this. Or contact Bill Dorr.
RSVP: Bill would like sign ups for participaton on the 25th. (Everyone knows Bill – or should and knows how to contact him. If not drop me a line at rickmcgrath2 dot 0 @ gmail.com)
Flyers: We’ll be canvasing the neighborhood on the 18th. Here too, let Bill know if you can help.
Thank you to OldOnliner for the slide show above of last year’s event. You can see more of this man’s wonderful photography of beloit on flickr here and “Beloit – Gateway to Wisconsin” here.

The Beloit Landmarks Commission is currently petitioning for restoration of the number of commissioners serving on the commission to be returned to eleven as it once was from the current nine. Only recently due to some outreach recruitment efforts have we been able to gain two more applications to fill the remaining vacancies on our current nine member roster. I believe though there are more folks caring enough to participate on this revived commission. We could use your help.

This was perhaps the first question I’d asked when I joined the city Landmark’s Commission several months ago. I believe there are benefits and believe there could be more.
