We’d like to know what you’re thinkin’

Following up on the range of ideas expressed over the last couple meetings I’ve cobbled together a crude poll. Take a look. Take a moment to let us know what you think.
It’s rough, it’s ugly but it should give us some feel for where peoples priorities are at, what they’d welcome most. Of course there’s more then we could reasonably consider pursuing but this can be a first step towards winnowing down to a ’short list’ of what’s do-able.
Take the new Beloit Neighborhood Preservation Association Poll! Express yourself!

Last Monday’s meeting at the college went very well indeed!
- We made good headway on the primary topic of white boarding goals and aspirations for the neighborhood and the association. We’ve essentially wrapped up that phase of our initial organizational discussion and framing up. We’re still open to suggestions and nothing cast in stone, but in the interest of pressing on…
- We’ve resolved on a new name for our humble assemblage. [ wait for it...
] - We’ve resolved that the left over monies from the prior NESNA organization be put to covering the cost of our not-for-profit application.
- We reviewed while online a bit of how-to for participation in this member’s blog.
- I think we all had a good time just getting together. We’ve got some funny folks showing up.
All in all, not a bad evening’s work for about an hour and a half’s discussion.

In our discussions we have raised the concept of providing work teams to assist persons who need repairs to get up to code.
I am strongly in support of such an idea even though my time is quite limited. However, on Saturday in a few months is possible for most anyone.
We could contact the city to determine owner occupied homes with violations that the owner cannot afford to repair. Or, perhaps one of you knows of a house near you that would fit into this description.
A pilot effort with a simple job before the snow flies might be a good idea.
