Meeting Minutes 1/12/09

Once again we got hit with nasty weather the evening of our meeting. All the same over twentyfolks braved the snow and cold including a half dozen new faces which is particularly gratifying. Things continue to come together for us.

Items discussed:

1. Committees: The following three committees are forming. While participation is not required, of the ideas discussed what gets addressed will be a function of who participates. The specific ideas proposed that might fall under these committees are here. You’re invited help us improve our neighborhood together by adding your name to the sign up at the bottom of this page.

2. NFP Application: Our state not-for-profit license is in place, federal is still in process. Next steps include review and approval of by-laws (Download Here) and the selection of officers (President, VicePresident, Secretary & Treasurer). At our next meeting on 1/26 we’ll review, amend as needed and approve the by-laws and select officers. Here too, your participation would be appreciated.
3. Other like associations: A quick look at what a couple other like organizations in old midwest manufacturing cities are doing. See what’s possible.

5. Visit Beloit: Therese Oldenburg from VB joined us expressing their interest in what we’re doing and offering their assistance. Wow! How cool is that. We’ll be talking more soon!
6. Standing reports: In the interest of keeping up to date on the range of things impacting our neighborhood, proposed is having regular updates on the following. We’ll be looking to see if there are individuals who would be willing to update on the following. Here too, if you’d be willing to update the rest of us on one of the items below please add your name to the sign-up form below.
