I am particularly glad to be removing one house in particular from the “Historic & Vintage Home Real Estate For Sale” page… Because it SOLD!

You can tell from the pic that this was once a grand home. It however befell the same fate as too many of the large grand homes within the historic district. It unfortunately lost the protection of single family, owner occupancy. It was purchased as a rental property, divided up into a multi-residential units and allowed to degrade over the years to such a deplorable state of neglect that it was uninhabitable. It then somehow finally landed in the lap of an out-of-town bank with zero interest in our neighborhood. I don’t know who the landlord(s) responsible for this are, don’t know their circumstance. It would seem however they’re done with the property and gone having done damage to our neighborhood and the property values of neighbors up and down the street.
All-the-same, when I saw a for sale sign on the lawn and called I discovered that the sale was perfunctary and the expedient and expected outcome was to move to condemnation and demolition. Moving quickly the other Landmarks Commission members were notified and word was passed around letting folks know the situation. If after all options were exhausted it had to go, then so be it. I was not convinced though there had been much interest or effort in this regard. The impression I had was one of expediency.
Well I’m very pleased to say 630 Park has been purchased by some brave individuals with vision. This once grand home is going to be saved.
Having spoken with one of the new co-owners I understand after renovation/restoration it will once again be made available for single family, owner occupancy. It’ll be a long road between now and then but I’m hopeful and appreciative. The new owners I believe, have done us all a favor and I wish them much success on this project and a win/win all around.
