Heated Paddle Fan – Cold Room Solution?

We’ve a beautiful sun room, southern exposure with large windows across three sides of the room. Love the room but it gets cool during the cold winter months. We’d resorted to keeping a space heater in there when we want to use the room. Serviceable but a less then great solution. Last winter MattG suggested we try a heated paddle fan. I’d never heard of such a thing. We’d since found out MattG had installed one for Natalie & John in their finished attic home office and like it. So I just finished installing one in our sun room.

So far we’re lovin’ it. It would have been more difficult to try and increase the heat delivery to that room from the existing forced air duct. Additionally it’ll be nice to have a paddle fan in that room for the hot summers as well. The effectiveness is a little diminished as some of the paddle fan’s heat still leaves this room for the higher ceiling height of the living room directly adjacent. This would happen with any solution however. All the same having this additional heat source is working out well and I’d recommend it as it was to us. Most of the models are ‘contemporary’ styled though, only a few ‘vintage’ styles. We found different styles at Menards and Lowes. Might be worth a look if you’ve got a cool room with limited options to add some heat.
